Art

Monday 12 till 3pm - North Berwick Community Centre.

Stepping Out Art and crafts group continues to be a vital part of our healing and encouraging programme of activities.

Monday’s art group run by community artist Alec Hodgson and is part of a programme of shared skills and support. The group explore a huge variety of activities at their own pace and in their own way.  From paper mache sculptures, felted hangings, applique cushions, and acrylic 3d portraiture, everybody tries something in their own style, with gentle encouragement and with more emphasis on process than the pressure of final products.

The group always have the option to choose their own projects to work on if they prefer. We have continued to welcome new members and explore unique and exciting projects.

Art can be used as a complement to traditional mental health treatment. The aim is to manage behaviours, process feelings, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase self-esteem. Self-discovery: Creating art can help you acknowledge and recognize feelings.  Being creative can help promote positive feelings.
